Perceptions of teachers about the use of Artificial Intelligence in Angola: Trends and perspectives of teachers in public and private Higher Education in Luanda

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the perceptions of teachers regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Angola, but precisely those of higher education teachers. To carry out this article, we used the quantitative method using a questionnaire research technique. As for the criteria for selecting the sample, a simple random sample was use. Regarding the population and sample, the study included the presence of 103 individuals, 79 of whom were male and 24 female. It found that 85% of those interviewed had already heard of and used Chat GPT, 4% had used writerZen and a minority of 2% had used Wordtune. Regarding the advantages that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could bring to education in Angola, 39% of the teachers surveyed are of the opinion that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will present several advantages for education, especially in the chapter focused on improving scientific research. Regarding the disadvantages that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could bring to education in Angola, 36% are of the opinion that it could significantly reduce human intelligence and 25% believe that Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Angola will increase levels of plagiarism.
